Dr. Peter Dust is an Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Regina Area of the Saskatchewan Health Authority with a special interest in Trauma and Complex Hip and Knee Reconstruction, including revision surgery. He is fully certified as a specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.


PERSONAL HISTORY

Dr. Peter Dust is a dual fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon in Trauma and Lower Extremity Reconstruction. He was raised in Saskatoon and graduated from the Holy Cross High School French Immersion Program. He completed two degrees at the University of Saskatchewan. He first completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Physiology and then his undergraduate medical degree. Dr. Dust then moved to Montreal to complete his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at McGill University. While doing his residency, he completed a Master of Science degree through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Clinical Investigator Program and McGill Surgical Scientist Program. During his residency, he enjoyed practicing medicine in both English and French. Dr. Dust then moved to Toronto where he completed both of his fellowships at the University of Toronto. He first completed an Orthopaedic Trauma fellowship at St. Michael’s Hospital and the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He gained substantial experience in the management of polytraumatized patients and complex fractures. He then completed an Arthroplasty and Lower Extremity Reconstruction fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital. There, he gained significant experience in complex primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty. Dr. Dust is very happy to be back home on the prairies, becoming the fourth generation of his family to provide medical and surgical care to the people of Saskatchewan.

Dr. Dust has a special interest in Orthopaedic Trauma and Primary and Revision Hip and Knee Arthroplasty. His elective surgical practice consists of:

  • Hip: Primary and Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty (done primarily by the lateral approach)

  • Knee: Primary and Revision Total Knee Arthroplasty

  • Trauma: Fracture Malunion & Nonunion Management
